Girls Incorporated® of Chattanooga is a non-profit organization that supports the needs of all girls by educating them to take risks, to speak their minds, to advocate healthy lifestyle choices, to protect their rights, and to strive for academic excellence.
Since 1961, we have served nearly 22,000 girls ages 6 - 18. As we celebrate "
Generations of Impact
" in our 45th year, we are in the midst of a geographic expansion that is allowing us to serve many more girls throughout Chattanooga and Hamilton County. Chattanooga Mayor Ron Littlefield proclaimed 2006 "
The Chattanooga Year of the Girl
."
We believe girls flourish when their needs and interests are primary. Everything begins with the Girls Inc. "Girls Bill of Rights." In our programs, academies, and camps, every leadership position is filled by a girl, and the girls interact with women role models from diverse and dynamic occupations to provide support and community service training. Our advocacy projects teach girls to act vigorously on their own behalf and for the rights of others. Our programs are research-based but girl-focused. It’s an atmosphere that fosters self confidence and celebrates achievement.
If you're a girl, or if you're a girl's parent, or if you care about girls, please join us… participate in a program, volunteer to help, make a donation. At Girls Inc. locations throughout Hamilton County, the community's girls are growing from strength to strength, finding allies, learning to be advocates, building futures for themselves and for their community.
Girls Incorporated of Chattanooga is an affiliate of Girls Incorporated, a national not-for-profit organization widely acclaimed for its research-driven informal education programs, and has been a United Way of Greater Chattanooga partner agency site since 1965. Additional support comes from individuals, corporations, foundations, and government grants.
